Welcome to the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association
For over 30 years GALHA has provided a voice for gay humanism in the United Kingdom and beyond. We promote humanism as a rational, ethical worldview based around shared values with humans at the centre - and full equality for the diversity of the human race, particularly relating to sexual orientation and identity.
Latest (02Feb10) - Given the Pope's recent comments against UK equality we urge you to support the "NO VAT" London for a Secular Europe demonstration 2010. Visit the BHA website for more details, including links to other partners working for the campaign. Find out more »
Help run GALHA: we currently have one vacancy on the Committee. If you can volunteer a few hours a week to helping steer the organisation or have particular skills in an area of use, please find out more or email secretary@galha.org.

Gay Humanists Thank Pope for Reinforcing Case for Secularism
London 2nd February 2010 The Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) has questioned Pope Benedict’s attack on Britain’s Equality laws and stated that this reinforces the importance of creating a truly secular Europe in which no religion or belief system holds a privileged position. Pope Benedict has denounced British law, designed to protect people from discrimination on grounds of religion or sexual orientation as an attempt “to impose unjust limitations on the freedom of religious communities to act in accordance with their beliefs.

Gay Humanists Question “Rasputin” Tactics of Religious Lobby
London 21st January 2010 The Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) has queried the last-ditch tactics of religious lobbyists trying to extend the "religious opt outs" to the Equality Bill currently before the House of Lords. The proposed legislation already allows religious organisations to discriminate on grounds of sex and relationship status when it comes to roles which relate specifically to promotion of the religion in question, which will enable for example bans on women priests or gay clergy to remain in place.
Humanist Thought for the Day
At a time when the achievements of the enlightenment are questioned, ridiculed, misunderstood and traduced by those who would reverse the progress of mankind, it is essential to nail one's colours to the mast as a humanist. - Stephen Fry
